Tuning

Tuning

Before you decide on a remap, you should understand a few key things:

  • Engine Health: The current condition of your engine is crucial. Tuning can push your engine to perform at a higher level, which may reveal any existing weaknesses. It’s important to ensure that your engine is in good health before proceeding with a remap.
  • Impact on Components: Tuning can place additional stress on various engine components, such as the turbocharger, injectors, and gearbox. If any of these parts are already compromised, tuning could exacerbate the issue, leading to potential failures.
  • Compatibility with Modifications: If you’ve made or are planning to make significant modifications to your vehicle, such as upgrading to a larger turbocharger or replacing injectors, these changes must be properly accounted for in the remap to optimize performance and ensure reliability.
  • Long-Term Effects: While a remap can enhance power and torque, it's important to consider the long-term effects on your vehicle’s engine and overall longevity. Regular maintenance and monitoring are essential to maintaining reliability after tuning.
  • Warranty Considerations: Tuning your vehicle may affect any existing warranties. It's advisable to check with your manufacturer or dealership about how a remap could impact your warranty coverage.
  • Professional Expertise: Choosing an experienced and reputable tuner is vital. The quality of the remap depends on the tuner’s expertise, the equipment used, and their understanding of your specific engine and vehicle.

Understanding these factors will help you make an informed decision about whether a remap is the right choice for your vehicle.

184-193 Hp

Stock: Stage 1- 230Hp/480NM

            Stage 2- 240Hp/530NM

Modified: 310Hp ( requires significant modifications: CP3 R90 Fuel system retrofit, M57N2 turbo, exhaust manifold, intake pipe, 4 bar map sensor, bigger intercooler and downpipe)

204-218hp

  • Stage 1: 260-270hp/550Nm
  • Stage 2: 300hp (218hp Euro 4)/600Nm. Requires 3'' downpipe and a bigger intercooler.

Additional power can be achieved with a hybrid turbo and injector upgrades.

231hp-235hp

  • Stage 1: 300hp/650Nm. Requires 3'' downpipe and a bigger intercooler.

Further power increases are possible with a hybrid turbo and an upgrade to the CP3 R90 fuel pump.

197hp

  • Stage 1: 260hp/550Nm

More power can be achieved with injector upgrades.

272hp

  • Stage 1: 360hp/700Nm.Requires 3'' downpipe and a bigger intercooler.

286hp

  • Stage : 370hp/730Nm. Requires 3'' downpipe and a bigger intercooler.

Transmissions

Manual Transmissions:

184-193-204Hp M57

GS-37DZ (E46 320d, 6-speed)

  • Recommended for good performance and reliability.

GS6-53DZ (E46 330d, 6-speed)

  • Another excellent option for manual transmission with solid gear ratios.

S5D TDS Transmission (E39, E34, E36, E38)

  • Not recommended due to short gear ratios, which can negatively impact driving comfort and highway performance.

GS5 M57 Transmission (E39, E46)

  • It is not advised due to gear ratios being even shorter than S5D, but it could work if the differential is replaced with 2.28/2.35.

Automatic Transmission:

8HP70

  • Highly recommended for smooth shifting, durability, and modern performance.

218-231-272-282Hp

All of these use the same bellhousing. Therefore, you can use any 6 speed transmission that came in diesel E6x, E9x. S5D, GS5, GS6 transmissions mentioned above, will not fit the bell housing!
